Hi friend! We’re excited to share our basketball crochet pattern Kawaii Cuddler™ pattern with you!
Some fun facts about Basketball:
1 – James Naismith invented basketball. He was asked in 1891 to invent an indoor winter activity.
2 – Basketball was played with a different ball. As bizarre as it sounds, basketball was originally played with a soccer ball and peach baskets, with referees having to retrieve the ball each time a player made a basket. In 1900, the string baskets we know today were introduced to the game and, later, backboards were attached to prevent spectators from blocking a shot.
3 – Dribbling wasn’t allowed. Each player had to throw it from wherever he caught it. The first team credited with advancing the ball by dribbling it played at Yale in 1897.

This is a beginner level pattern. Our finished Basketball project is 9.5″ in diameter using the recommended hook size. You are welcome to go up or down a hook size to create a different dimension. You can even hold two pieces of yarn together with a larger hook to create a giant cuddler. The sky is the limit!
If you’ve never worked one of our Kawaii Cuddler™ patterns, they are geared towards beginners. You will work two flat pieces and single crochet them together to finish the piece. Even if you’ve never been able to crochet from a pattern before, we’re confident you can create with a 3amgracedesigns pattern.
