How To Crochet A Unicorn Amigurumi Cuddler Pillow, Complete With Rosy Cheeks & Smile! Our Unicorn Crochet Pattern Works Up Quickly!

We’re so excited to share our Unicorn crochet pattern Kawaii Cuddler® with you! From her beautiful mane to her regal horn, she is sure to delight the unicorn lover in your life! We can’t wait to see which colors you choose!

Here are some fun facts we found about the Unicorn while researching our pattern:

  1. The Unicorn’s eyes are Sky Blue or Purple.
  2. Unicorns can be of any color, from Jet-Black, Brown to a dazzling Gold.
  3. A baby unicorn is called a sparkle.

She is happy to join her animal friends Fox Kawaii Cuddler®, Flamingo Kawaii Cuddler®, Kangaroo Kawaii Cuddler®.

This is a beginner level pattern. The techniques you will need to know are single crochet, single crochet increase, single crochet decrease, half double crochet, and double crochet. Our finished project is 13″ x 9″ using the recommended hook size. You are welcome to go up or down a hook size to create a different dimension. You can even hold two pieces of yarn together with a larger hook to create a giant cuddler. The sky is the limit!

If you’ve never worked one of our Kawaii Cuddler® patterns, they are geared towards beginners. You will work two flat pieces and single crochet them together to finish the piece. Even if you’ve never been able to crochet from a pattern before, we’re confident you can create with a 3amgracedesigns pattern. We encourage you to join our Facebook Group where we remain active helping with questions! We love passing our love for the craft on to others!

We hope you enjoy making your very own unicorn crochet pattern kawaii cuddler®! We can’t wait to see your creativity. When you complete one, please post it in our Facebook group or tag us on Instagram #3amgracedesigns. We love seeing your work!

Hi I am trying to do this unicorn pattern but I do not understand Row 24. Am I supposed to make a chain of 40? Please explain. Thank you.

      November 28, 2018 at 2:57 pm

      Hi Lisa!
At the end of Row 23, you are Chaining 20. For Row 24, you single crochet into those Chains first, then across the Row giving you 40 stitches total.

      Hope that helps!
      Donna

I am having trouble with this part too. It is definitely not looking right. I’ve riffed and tried again but it still doesn’t seem right.

Keep going ladies – you will add the snout afterwards and it smoothes out. You are welcome to send me a photo of what you have so far to [email protected] or post a photo in our Facebook group. But it’s a common concern and it all works out. 🙂

Hi I am struggling with rows 26 and 27 as well… I did the decreases but it ended up looking like a weird hook that didn’t match up with later pics. I riffed it and I’m trying again but so far it looks the same😬

Hi! I am ready to start assembling all my pieces for the unicorn and I am just wondering how you attached the mane pieces. This is my first stuffed animal type project so I’m a little unsure of how to do this. Thank you so much for the cute pattern!!

    • [email protected] says

      March 6, 2019 at 5:19 pm

Hi Amber! You can sew them on or glue them. I used a hot glue gun to attach mine.

      March 22, 2019 at 7:02 pm

Hi there! You make them on each piece.

      Hi I love these cuddlers!
I have a new granddaughter and these would be perfect!

I want to make one and also a matching one to attach to a wood teething ring

How do you suggest I make it small enough
I will be using 4 ply 4 weight cotton yarn

      • [email protected] says

        July 25, 2020 at 9:48 pm

Hi Shirley! So glad you found us! You can use a much smaller hook – however, it probably won’t be small enough for a teether.

          Thank you
          I will try it

Do you have any smaller patterns, maybe ornament size?

All of our Cuddlers are larger designs 🙂

Hi! This is such a cute pattern. Thank you for making it available! I have a question regarding attaching the mane.

Do you sew the complete mane down or just part of it leaving it to be “free” in places like a horse’s mane would be? Also, did you attach it to the front panel before you sewed the front and back together?

    Thanks for your help!

    • [email protected] says

      May 5, 2019 at 5:59 pm

      Hi Nancy!

We glued our mane down completely after the front and back were attached together – but you are welcome to do yours according to what you love best. 🙂

    • [email protected] says

Hi Norma! Yes, it is done on both pieces. Happy crocheting! 🙂

      Hi Amy!

Row 23 ends with you Chaining 20. Row 24 begins with you SC in those Chains.

      Hope that helps!

Hi! I am trying this pattern for the first time. It is so easy to follow!! I just want to clarify one thing. At the end of row 23, do I turn my work?
Thank you for sharing this awesome pattern!!!

Hi Ashlee! Yes, however you are working into those starting chains first for Row 24.

I was able to figure out A B C mane, having a hard time with DEF…how do I do it backwards??

    • [email protected] says

      August 16, 2019 at 6:24 am

Hi Shelly! It is crocheted the same as A B C. When you sew/glue it on, you are just reversing it. Hope that helps!

      Hi Judi!
You are increasing in each chain, therefore only 11 chains are needed.

Made a rainbow unicorn for my niece as requested but also putting a pocket and a strap to hang it on her bed for her tooth fairy pillow
Thanks, great design! Hot glued the hair, flowers, and a yarn smile. Great idea

    Hi,
I am a beginner crocheter and am in love with all of your designs and your unicorn pillow.

I know how to increase and decrease, but I’m confused with rows, 14, 16 about how you decrease and increase?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    • [email protected] says

      June 4, 2020 at 11:39 am

      Hi Maria!
For Rows 14 & 16 – you will decrease across the first two stitches, single crochet in the next 17 stitches, and increase in the last stitch.
      Hope that helps. Happy crocheting!
